B2 · Nouns and adjectives

Un gran hombre o un hombre grande

At lower levels adjectives go after the noun and that is that. From B2 the position becomes a choice: in front, the adjective usually gives an opinion or an inherent quality; behind, it distinguishes this noun from others of its kind. A small group of adjectives changes meaning outright, and a small group of nouns changes meaning depending on whether it takes el or la.
