About Comprendo
Read Spanish you can understand. Free, with no account required and nothing to unlock.
What this is
Short Spanish texts written for a level, where every word carries a meaning you can tap. Not a dictionary definition — the meaning that word has in that sentence. Se pone oscuro is gets dark, not puts dark, and multi-word expressions are treated as the single units they are.
Why it exists
Most reading practice online is either too easy to be interesting or too hard to finish. And the tools that do let you tap a word hand you a dictionary entry that does not fit the sentence you are reading, which is the exact moment a learner gives up.
Everything here is written and annotated by hand by a working Spanish teacher. There is no generated filler. That is why the library grows slowly.
What is in it
- 11 graded readings from A1 to B2, each with comprehension questions
- 38 grammar lessons with tables, contrasts and the mistakes people actually make
- 143 expressions grouped by situation, with regional variants
- A word list that fills itself as you read
How to use it
Pick something one notch harder than comfortable. Read it once without stopping. Read it again and tap what you did not know. Answer the questions, practice the words you looked up, and come back tomorrow. That is the whole method.
Found a mistake?
Spanish varies by country and a gloss that fits Lima may not fit Madrid. If something reads wrong, it probably is. Corrections are welcome and get applied.
