A story with gaps: preterite or imperfect
Explained in Pretérito o imperfecto.
One continuous story. Write each verb in the preterite or the imperfect, whichever the sentence needs. The scene takes the imperfect; what happens takes the preterite.
El sábado pasado 1(ser) las siete de la tarde cuando 2(salir, yo) de casa. 3(hacer) frío y la calle 4(estar) vacía.
5(caminar, yo) al paradero y 6(tomar, yo) el bus. Mientras 7(mirar, yo) por la ventana, 8(ver, yo) a una señora que 9(llevar) tres bolsas pesadas.
10(levantarse, yo) del asiento y le 11(dar, yo) el mío. Ella me 12(dar) las gracias y se 13(sentarse).
